At the 2010 census the population was 2,376. On July 13, 2010, the citizens of Guin voted to become the first city in Marion County, since Prohibition, to allow the sale of alcohol. On April 3, 1974, Guin was devastated by an F5 tornado during the 1974 Super Outbreak, the second-largest tornado outbreak on record.
